Description
The HDER-G01 is the model name assigned to this military-grade Geiger counter set. The equipment was originally designed for the United States Navy as the AN/PDR-27S Radiac set. According to the Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse Program, the retail "acquisition" value of each of these radiation detection sets is approximately $1,400. We have a very limited number of these available, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. The Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse Program was established by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in cooperation with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), and became a nationwide program in 2002. The program is coordinated by the DOE in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The purpose of the HDER program is to refurbish, package, and distribute surplus DOE equipment to appropriate agencies nationwide, with the intention of providing equipment potentially valuable in mitigating terrorist, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. This same equipment is currently in use by law enforcement agencies nationwide.
