Description
This is the rare early-war M2A1 "Heavy" Gas Mask and Bag issued to U.S. Army GI's in WWII. The M2 differs from the latter M4 Lightweight Gasmask primarily in that the exhalation valve and weight of the rubber. This mask was made by Firestone and has a molding date of 1-43 (January 1943). The Mk. IV bag is the "kidney-shaped" one made of khaki/light olive drab canvas and is in good condition. The gas mask is in similar good used condition.
Features
- The M2A1 Service Gas Mask used the same face piece and exhale valve setup as the M2A1 Training Gas Mask. However, a long rubber breathing tube with a MIXA1 filter canister attached was used instead of the MI training filter.
