99.5+% pure Uranium Nitrate Hexahydrate (UO2(NO3)2 - 6H2O), which is a beautiful and interesting compound. The 200mg sample consisting of powder and small chunks are a fantastic greenish yellow color, and may be used for testing Geiger counters and Gamma counters, is sought after by collectors, and suitable for display. It is packed in sealed 5ml scored glass ampule for safety and ease of display. Crystals of uranium nitrate are triboluminescent.
Uranyl nitrate is important for nuclear reprocessing; it is the compound of uranium that results from dissolving the decladded spent nuclear fuel rods or yellowcake in nitric acid, for further separation and preparation of uranium hexafluoride for isotope separation for preparing of enriched uranium.
