Description
This BEAUTY measures almost 15 inches tall and 11 inches wide. It is an official Khaki colored canvas US NAVY ND MARK V GAS MASK BAG - it has obviously seen use in the service and on it has been HAND DRAWN great decoration of a pair of Orca Whales along with the sailor's name! Underneath the closure flap is the name "RICHARD POWERS" in black ink and "CHICAGO, IL." in red ink. Each side of the bag has a Killer Whale or Orca drawn on it facing opposite directions. This has definitely been used by the sailor - it has honest wear on contact points. There are small wear holes on the back on the corner edges where the aluminum plate inside touches against the khaki canvas. This is still supple - not brittle, and has a wonderful aged patina!!
